Brainstorm is a print shop and design studio established in 2008. We produce an evolving collection of bright and brainy prints and goods inspired by science, nature, and the outdoors. We create for indoor spaces by reflecting on the things we love about being alive. In other words, we like to bring the outdoors in.
We’re deeply connected to our work, emphasizing simplicity and visual clarity. The world is complex enough. We want these principles to resonate with our customers and the people we work with. We seek people and companies that have cultivated their own passions and who share our commitment to environmental stewardship and education. We want to be surrounded by those who take an active role, contributing beauty and mindful conservation to the bigger picture.
We’re a feisty, easily excitable team of three which is the perfect recipe for checking and balancing as we navigate the harmony of design, retail, and trivia on Wednesday nights. As humans, artists, and businesspeople, we like to stay open-minded and approachable. You won’t find any high horses in our studio. While we appreciate and recognize the realities we live in, we try to find the humor in life and business. We’re very passionate about puns, fart jokes, gifs, and Maple (our studio dog).
Owner and Creative Director Briana Feola loves blurring the lines between graphic design, illustration, home decor, and fine art printmaking. Aiming for agility (and simplicity) in life and business, she keeps an ear to the ground and is always searching for ways to make everything more functional and beautiful. She embraces Brainstorm's responsibility to use art and design as a force for positivity, education, and environmental stewardship.
Producer Sara O’Reilly is the third leg of the Brainstorm studio. She oversees retail and wholesale accounts, wordsmiths the dickens out of copy, keeps the studio running like a well-oiled machine, and makes for an enthusiastic, thoughtful tie-breaker on studio discussions vital to the growth of our business. She’ll even weigh in when the topic is just plain nuts.
Sara’s the product of time well spent in the Boston advertising industry managing strategic planning of both creative and media for the Boston Museum of Science. Her experience also reaches into sectors beyond educational/museum having worked with the likes of Tufts Health Plan, Papa Gino’s, Boston Interiors, Brigham and Women’s Hospital accounts. Before jumping onboard with us, Sara, who has a deep, deep affection for music, spent several years sharpening those marketing chops in the Marketing Department of entertainment giant, Live Nation, developing promotional campaigns for thousands of shows in small club venues to 25,000-seat amphitheaters and arenas in the New England area.
